Onion Jam 飴色玉ねぎ

I will show you how to make Onion Jam
as a first step to prepare a Japanese homemade Curry.
In a short time you are able to get the same result
as if you had cooked it for 2 hours.

日本のカレーを作るための一歩として
「飴色玉ねぎ」の作り方をご紹介しています。
短時間なのに、2時間ぐらい炒めたのと同じようになります。

Welcome back to Kawaii Cooking.
Today I will show you how to prepare Onion jam.
It is a preparatory for my homemade Japanese curry.
Those are ingredients :
3 pcs of big Onions, 3 table spoons of Canola Oil
(any vegetable oil which doesn’t have a strong aroma is fine),
4g of salt
1 Peel and cut crosswise all the Onion into 5mm pieces.
2 Place the Onion into an iron fry-pan and the oil,
then simmer it over high heat for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat.
3 Keep it for a while until it gets cool,
then add one third of the salt and mix it well.
4 Repeat the same procedure for another 2 times.
The tip : Each time when the Onion gets hot enough
set a timer to keep simmering for 5 minutes.
This jam can be stocked in freezer for a month
and can be used for many dishes,
not only for various types of stew, but also for Onion soup,
Japanese hamburger and Onion bread.
