Trip to Yamaguchi 山口への旅

Hello everyone!

As soon as I arrived at Iwakuni Airport, 

I saw there were many reporters and cameramans,

so I asked me  "what's going on?".

I found out that they were waiting for the arrival of Air Force One. 

I knew that President Biden could come to Hiroshima, 

but I never thought he would arrive at Iwakuni Airport 

on the same day. 

In fact, I saw a Japanese government plane just before takeoff 

from Haneda Airport. 

Our journey has started in this way.

First we visited Iwakuni Shirohebi Shrine (white snakes).

The enshrined deities are Tagorihime no Kami,

Tanatsuhime no Kami, Ichikishimahime no Kami,

the three goddesses enshrined in Munakata Taisha in Fukuoka

and Uka no Mitama no Kami (Uga Benzaiten). 

Originally, white snakes lives in Iwakuni, and they are protected.

At this shrine, it is believed to be the messenger of the god.

They were very cute and beautiful snakes.

岩国空港へ到着したら、多くの報道陣などが居て「いったい何の騒ぎ？」

かと思ったら、エアフォースワンの到着を待ち構えている人達でした。

バイデン大統領が広島へ来られることは聞かされていましたが、

まさか岩国空港に到着されるとは！それも同日に！

実は羽田空港離陸直前に日本の政府専用機も見ていました。

こんな感じでわたし達の旅が始まりました。

まずは、「岩国白蛇神社」に参拝しました。

ご祭神は「田心姫神」「湍津姫神」「市杵島姫神」、

宗像大社に祀られる三女神と「宇迦之御魂神」（宇賀弁財天）です。

もともと岩国には白蛇が生息しており、

国指定天然記念物となっています。

こちらの神社では、御祭神の使いとして信仰されています。

とても可愛く綺麗なヘビさん達でした。
