The Nagasaki rout of Kyushu Shinkansen (Bullet train) 長崎新幹線

Hello everyone!

On this trip, I was going to Nagasaki from Yamaguchi , 

so I wanted to use ”the Nagasaki rout of Kyushu Shinkansen". 

For several decades, I was told that the Shinkansen would come to Nagasaki,

and it seemed like an illusion to me because many years passed.

Finally they announced that it opened last fall. 

Take the Sanyo Shinkansen from Shin-Shimonoseki to Hakata, 

then take the relay express from Hakata to Takeo Onsen, 

and finally the Nagasaki Shinkansen. 

I hoped to film the moment when the bullet trains arrives at the platform

but I couldn't because when I arrived at Takeo Onsen, 

it was already waiting at the platform, 

and when I arrived at Nagasaki, it would be the terminal station, 

so it stopped. 

When you get off the Shinkansen and look at the front, 

you can see an orange ball just above your head, 

and it looks like a white dragon chasing the ball. 

(Similar to the traditional Nagasaki snake dance

called Jya-odori)

I remembered the words my grandfather used to say 

when I was a child and when he arrived at Nagasaki Station. 

He said, "The platform of the final station is long.

" When I was a child, I was just listening to his saying 

without any meaning, but now I think it was a romantic word.

When I started walking around Nagasaki Station, 

I was surprised to find that it had changed 

as if I had come to another city! 

Shinkansen changed many things. 

I checked in a hotel in the city center and looked for

some restaurants for dinner by phone,

but everywhere was full.

While we are walking around to look for it 

we came across a “Dragon Dance” practice, 

and we felt like we were welcomed.

今回の旅で、山口から長崎に入るので、

「西九州新幹線」を使いたいと思いました。

「長崎まで新幹線が来る」と数十年言われ続け、

わたしには幻のようでした。

そして、昨年秋の開通に安堵しました。

新下関から博多まで山陽新幹線に乗って、

博多からリレー特急で武雄温泉まで行って、

いよいよ長崎新幹線です。

走っている姿をビデオに収めようと期待したのですが、

武雄温泉へ着いた時には、もうすでに新幹線はホームに入って待っており

長崎に着いたら終着駅なので、止まっておしまいなのでした。

新幹線を降りて先頭の方を見ると、

頭にちょうどオレンジの玉が来るようになっていて、

白い龍が玉を追っているように見えます。（長崎伝統芸能蛇踊りのよう）

子供の頃に祖父が、長崎駅に到着して、言っていた言葉を思い出しました。

「終着駅は長いね。」と。子供の頃のわたしはそれしか知らないから、

よく意味がわからなかったのですが、今となっては、

浪漫がある言葉だったなあと思います。

長崎駅の外に出ると、まるで別の街に来たかのように

変わっていて驚きました！

新幹線が入ると、このように変化していくのですね！

街の中心のホテルへ入り、夕飯のためにお店を探すもどこもいっぱいで、

たいへんな賑わいでした！

探し歩いている途中「龍踊り」のお稽古に出会し、

わたし達が歓迎されたかのように都合良く思い、大感激しました！
